Fast of Ab

It's sackcloth and ashes time again! The Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed twice in events separated by more than 500 years. In a remarkable historical coincidence, both tragedies happened at the very same time of year.
templeIn 586 B.C. the Temple was razed to the ground by Nebuchadnezzar army on the ninth of Ab. Again in 70 A.D. the Temple was destroyed by the Roman general Titus on the ninth of Ab.

Jews everywhere mark the weeks between the 17th of Tammuz and the ninth of Ab as a time of fasting and repentance. We have observed these fasts for about 20 years, and each year we've seen a clearer picture of Christ and the spiritual consequences of our own idolatry.

We will observe the Fast of Ab on July 17-18. You can download a brief memo on the fast here.
